POSITION: Park and Rec Co-Chairs

TERM:

  • MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Follow the INC Parks and Rec Platform for Urban Parks in taking positions on park issues
    Keep Park Platform updated
    Provide and disseminate information about Denver Park System
    Advocate for community participation and information to be shared by Denver Parks concerning current and future projects occurring in Denver Parks
    Procure speakers for monthly meeting. Provide short report for INC delegate meetings.
    Publish meeting notes on Web pages and send out to committee members on Mail Chimp.

    Update Park Platform
    Designate all parks and parkways-in process
    To support all efforts to expand park land for growing population
    To imagine our parks 30 years from now and define what will be priorities for the best parks now and in the future
  • CHALLENGES:
    To increase advocacy of all parks and parkways by communities members surrounding them.
    To work in cooperatively with the Parks dept and be seen as supporters to the dept
    To have representation on park policy committees and a broad base of committee members able to participate
    To help the City and park users focus on balanced use of parks
