  • Denver’s Corridor Studies — Jenn Hillhouse, DOTI Director of Transportation & Mobility Planning
Denver has been leading several corridor studies to evaluate all modes of mobility to develop future designs and approaches to make these important routes safer and more useful for all. These include Evans Avenue, York & Josephine Streets, Cherry Creek/Speer and others. Jenn Hillhouse, DOTI’s Director of Transportation and Mobility Planning will be with us to share a high-level overview of the corridors being studied, and the similarities and differences in approach and direction between them. Whether a corridor near you is being studied now, or may be in the future, we’ll learn more about DOTI’s approach and community engagement in the evolution of these key streets.
  • RTD Major Projects & Route/Schedule Impacts This Summer — Stuart Summers, RTD & RTD Staff
RTD has two major maintenance projects this summer that will impact light rail routes and schedules, as well as changes to bus schedules to keep people moving during this work. RTD staff will share with us the details about the Downtown Rail Reconstruction and the Coping Panels projects, and the information we and our neighbors will need to know prior to these changes. We’re grateful they’re joining us to help get the word out!
  • State Legislative Wrap-Up – June Churchill, Volunteer Lobbyist
As we’re coming down to the end of this state legislative session, we are seeing one of the most intensive set of policy and funding changes to transportation in memory. We kicked off the legislative session with a preview of expected bills from Denver Streets Partnership and we’ll close out the session with a review by June Churchill, a regular at our meetings and a registered volunteer lobbyist representing Denverites in the Denver Bicycle Lobby and Greater Denver Transit advocacy groups. Transit funding, automated enforcement, parking minimums and more — what the State gets done this year will be directly seen in Denver in the near term and in the evolution of local and statewide transit options in the years to come.
  • Denver’s Street Safety Revolution: Denver’s Approach to Rapid Vision Zero Progress — Amy Ford, DOTI Executive Director
Last week, the Mayor announced an upcoming press conference to share a new and ambitious interim goal to reduce traffic deaths on the way to the ultimate goal of zero traffic deaths and serious injuries.Since INC’s unanimous adoption of our Transportation Platform, we have been calling for Denver to “commit itself, at the highest levels, to the Vision Zero goals of eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries,” noting that “this is a moral issue — life and health are of paramount importance, and transportation systems and features should lessen the impact when inevitable human errors occur.” Although many plans and small-scale changes have occurred since then, the rate of road deaths and serious injuries has not yet come down.Join us to hear from Amy Ford, DOTI’s Executive Director, about the range of interventions the new administration is going bring to rapidly address the issue and protect the lives of neighbors across the city.
