Denver Environmental Health’s (DEH) Sustainable Neighborhoods Program is excited to launch the Sustainable Neighborhoods Matching Fund (SNMF) pilot project. SNMF will award up to $2,500 each to three projects in Denver neighborhoods that further community sustainability and well-being goals.
Applying organizations must be primarily made up of members who live and/or work in Denver. Preference will be given to Registered Neighborhood Organizations and neighborhoods-based groups, but place-based entries are also eligible (including business improvement districts, businesses’, and non- and for-profit organizations).

Denver’s proposed rules for regulating and taxing short-term rentals took two years to create. But even before the first official airing of the measure, resistance is building against limiting by-owner rentals to primary residences only.
Economists estimate that as many as 40 percent of short-term rentals offered on sites such as Airbnb, FlipKey and VRBO are marketed by people who own more than one property.
“We are already getting pushback on the primary-residence rule. It’s probably the most controversial,” said Denver City Councilwoman Mary Beth Susman, who chaired the city’s Sharing Economy Task Force.

Real-Time Transit Info Comes to RTD — Steve Szczecina, RTD Acting Digital Communications Manager
It’s been a long time in the making, but real-time transit information is here. Starting off 2016 with a major accomplishment, RTD now has real-time vehicle location and arrival prediction data for bus service available, and the first developer using it with the Transit App mobile application.
