Transportation Meeting Notes: September 13, 2018
Our meeting wrapped up with a two-part presentation by Jessica Vargas with WalkDenver. In the first part, we were treated to an overview of the work WalkDenver has been engaged in over the past year. As the lead organizer of the Visio Zero Coalition, the Safe Speeds for Denver campaign called for safe speed projects throughout Denver, testing the effectiveness of various street design treatments for safe vehicle speeds, and adopting formal guidelines to guide safe speeds on the streets. A few very visible and impactful traffic calming interventions have appeared throughout the city, and we look forward to seeing the City’s response to the broader requests in their 2019 work program.
In the second half of the presentation, Jessica gave us a sneak peak at the upcoming Vision Zero Community Program which WalkDenver is helping the City develop, administer and support. Neighborhoods and community organizations can apply for grants to support proposed projects, and applications are due December 1st! (Since the meeting, full details have been released — see above!
